About Me

UPDATE: MARCH 25, 2020
The traveling has paused for obvious reasons. I am safe and healthy in Ottawa, Canada right now, and I expect the blog will continue with new reflections on this unexpected adventure we are now all on together.

I value creativity, exploration, and contribution. Travel is a wonderful forum for me to thrive in all three. On September 28, 2019, I started a one year journey with Remote Year (see link below) visiting twelve countries over twelve months. As such, I will have A) news about where I am and what is going on, B) travel tips, and C) thoughts on the challenges and growth lessons along the way.

I grew up in Canada, and my first international trip (besides to the United States) was to the Netherlands and England when I was in high school. That was soon followed by France and Russia in college. For most of my life since then I have had ‘the next big trip’ on the horizon within 18-24 months’ reach. I have enjoyed the many benefits of travel including the way it challenges perspectives and assumptions, and respected the many ways travel has pushed my boundaries. The country count before starting this current Remote Year was 29, so I have a solid foundation for this adventure, as well as a healthy awareness that something(s) is going to be a real surprise and a true mental test.

A primary goal for this year is to stop carving out time from work for travel, but rather regularly and productively blend them on my own terms. This is not a year long vacation. I am launching a remote business which will focus on leadership coaching for young professionals. I am both excited and cautious about this test too!

I’m looking forward to sharing my news, wanderings, and wonderings with you. /Ann
